New Japanese "Girlfriend Coat" Gives Wearer Unlimited Hugs
For lonely single men yearning for someone to cuddle, look no further. A group of Japanese students have created a cuddle coat that takes the girlfriend experience to a whole new level.
Engineers at the University of Tsukuba have invented a coat that makes people feel like they have a girlfriend. The "Riajyuu Coat" or fulfillment coat is equipped with a special belt that creates the sensation of being hugged from behind. Headphones attached to the jacked also play recordings of a female voice whispering phrases a girlfriend might say like "Sorry I'm late".
The wearer simply has to put on the jacket and the headphones to hear the pre-recoded sounds of footsteps running from behind and then a voice that says phrases like "I'm sorry, were you waiting?", "Watch your back!", "Guess who?" or "Blind side!", followed by a robotic hug, according to The Japan Daily Press.
"If I have a girlfriend I think it is a good situation that she suddenly hugs me when I wait for her at the station," developer Maito Omari said in a Youtube video.
"The concept of this device is everyone can get the feeling of having a girlfriend," said hardware engineer Hikaru Sugira, according to the Huffington Post.
"It looks like a normal coat at first sight. Users wear this coat, fasten the belt and wear the headphones," said software engineer Kota Shinbayashi, according to the Daily Mail. "In the waist, the system of the winding belt is attached."
"This makes the feeling that is like girlfriend hugs," Shinbayashi added.
The girlfriend coat is not commercially available to buy, according to The Japan Daily Press.
