Bizarre Discovery of Bigfoot-Like Foot Baffles U.S. Town
The discovery of an irregularly large foot has left the town of Quincy, Massachusetts wondering if the fabled "Bigfoot" is, in fact, real.
Two young boys, who were playing in the woods of Lakeville last month, had accidentally stumbled across the giant, decomposing, human-like foot, according to the Patriot Ledger newspaper.
"On March 29, Sgt. Steven Leanues picked up what appears to be a decomposed foot that the boys found in the woods off Pantheon Road," the article read.
Police are now carrying out tests on the grisly remains to find out exactly what kind of creature it belonged to. While the foot appears to have five toes, authorities have so far determine that the foot is not human.
"Police Chief Frank Alvilhiera sent it to the medical examiner, who determined it is not human, although it appears to have five toes," according to the Patriot Ledger.
Alvilhiera believes that the "foot" could be a bear paw or may have belonged to a different wild animal.
Police said until the medical examiner does further testing, the identity of the owner the foot remains a mystery.
"It will take some time before we hear any official results," Alvilhiera told the Patriot Ledger.
Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a legendary ape-like monster some believe live in the forests of North America. In the past people have variously pointed to mysterious sightings, bizarrely huge footprints, and giant nest-like structures as evidence that the mythical beast is real.
