Who says sex is best in the bedroom? According to a new survey, Germans prefer to make love in the bathroom.

A new poll conducted by German television channel Kabel-1's "Adventure Life" show, one in five survey respondents said that the restroom was the ultimate place to have sex.

However, most of the people surveyed were more traditional, with 77 percent of respondents choosing the bedroom as their favorite place for lovemaking, according to thelocal.de.

The survey revealed that nine percent of respondents liked to get busy in the car while only one percent admitted that sex at work was the best sex.

According to the poll, Germans have sex on average 6.4 times a month, which is just a little more than once a week.

About 66 percent of respondents didn't have a favorite day to have sex, but 18 percent reported that Saturday was the best day for sex.

However, that doesn't mean the survey respondents were talking about having sex with their partners.  The survey revealed that an equal share of men and women admitted to having cheated on their partners at least once, with 37 percent reporting that they had cheated on a partner in their lifetime.

Sex expert and Daily Mail web blogger Tracey Cox says she understands why some people prefer to have sex in the bathroom.

"Bathrooms offer privacy and having a bath or shower together can be super sexy. But it also works well if your partner has hygiene problems. I often suggest people have a bath or shower with their partner before sex if they're worried about body odor," she said, according to the Daily Mail.

"People who are squeamish about sex often like doing it in places like the shower because it feels 'clean'," Cox explained.

"Sadly, the most common place and time for most long-term couples in Britain is to have sex at 10.24pm on Saturday nights ... in the bedroom! Though it's not all bad: the kitchen bench is also a favorite," she added.
