Curry really can help get rid of a cold.

Researchers at the Common Cold Center at the University of Cardiff hot that a hot Madras Curry is a great way to soothe a sore throat.

"I recommend a hot spicy curry - it ensures you salivate and reduces your coughing and sore throat symptoms," said Professor Ron Eccles, according to the Daily Mail.

"Many spices have antiviral effects, which could also be beneficial, it's also my personal favorite treatment for colds and flu," Eccles said. "We have also found that a hot fruit cordial drink had immediate effects on sore throats and other symptoms of colds and flu."

"The big advantage of this kind of treatment is that it is cheap as well as being safe and effective," he added.

He says another good remedy is a hot drink made of marshmallow, liquorice root and blackcurrant.
