Every other deodorant is ineffective when it comes to masking this case of bad odour. A Chinese man, 40, has suffered from extreme body odour for around four years. The reason was the infection which occurred in his armpit hair.

Infected man went to the local doctor after observing his stained clothes during summer.

The case report which has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that it was because of the “creamy”, “yellow” secretions on the hairs.

The hairs were observed carefully under microscope and doctors found the clear secretions that were only on the hair shaft and did not penetrate it.

The man was later diagnosed with trichomycosis axillaris. It is a bacterial infection caused by the overgrowth of corynebacterium.

The yellow, creamy secretions consist of tightly packed bacteria which prefer moist areas - hence why they gather in areas such as the armpit and groin, reported Daily Mail.

Researchers also said that the acidic odour was caused by the bacteria the metabolised the testosterones.

Naturally the conditions is more tending towards men because women shaved their armpit hair more frequently.

Other reasons for developing such condition is poor hygiene, obesity, and excessive sweating.

For treatment, doctors of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing advised to shave armpit hair and recommended an antibiotic cream and aluminum chloride.

The good part of the story is within few weeks the infection neutralises easily and do not cause any long-lasting consequences.
