Ill Nelson Mandela Still Unable to Speak
Health conditions of former South African president Nelson Mandela has still not improved much and he uses facial expression to communicate. Her ex-wife recently revealed in a local newspaper.
Tubes were used to clear his lungs recently and probably that is preventing Nelson Mandela from speaking.
“He remains very sensitive to any germs, so he has to be kept literally sterile,” ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela told a local newspaper according to CNN. “The bedroom their [at his home] is like an ICU ward.”
95-year-old Nelson Mandela is “quite ill” but was not on a life support machine. He was suffering from a lung infection and he returned home in September following a three-months treatment.
“He can’t actually articulate anything… He communicates with the face, you see. But the doctors have told us they hope to recover his voice.”
“I have heard this nonsense that he is on life support - he is not,” she added.
After spending 27 years in prison for fighting against apartheid, Nelson Mandela is still able to retain his popularity. He is often considered as father of democracy.
Four years after he was freed from prison, Nelson Mandela also became nation’s first black president in 1994.
