Couples who want to conceive should eat more Brussels sprouts, according to experts.

Nutrition experts say that the vegetable boosts fertility in men and women.

"Believe it or not, this green micro cabbage is a baby making super food," said British nutritional therapist Neema Savvides, according to the Daily Mail.

"Firstly, they are bursting with folic acid which is essential for boosting fertility in both men and women," said Savvides. "This vitamin rich source also increases sperm levels and helps line the womb with the right nutrients raising sperm survival chances."

"Another benefit of this folic rich food is that it also helps to decrease the risk of miscarriages and birth defects," she added.

The vegetable, which also contains phytonutrient called di-indolylmethane, helps balance oestrogen levels in women. Experts say that di-indolylmethane helps boost fertility by getting rid of excess oestrogen. The phytonutrient binds to environmental oestrogens in pesticides and hormones in meat and dairy products.
