New dating research reveals that station wagons are worst when it comes to making a first impression.

The latest study by Europcar UK Group revealed that these practical cars turn off most women. Unsurprisingly, more expensive cars like Mercedes and BMWs are more likely to make a great first impression.

The survey revealed that almost a third of drivers would choose to drive a pricier car to make a great first impression. However, only 1 percent said they would drive a station wagon to pick up their dates.

Female respondents said they are especially turned off by the practicality of a station wagon. However, 32 percent of female respondents report being most impressed with a Mercedes.

Sports cars and coupes also proved to be among the most impressive cars, according to more than a fifth of respondents.

Younger people were also pickier about their cars, according to the survey. Researchers found that 23 percent of respondents between the ages of 25 and 34 said the type of car a potential partner drives could make or break first dates.

Thankfully, the survey revealed that most people aren't that shallow. Researchers found that 49 percent of all respondents said that their date's smile is the first thing they usually notice.

"Although we make judgments about people every day, this is magnified on a first date" said a spokesperson for Europcar UK Group, according to the Daily Mail.

"But our research suggests that a winning smile and a prestige car with wow factor could make sure there's a good chance of a second date," he added.
