You Can Be Scared To Death
Scaredy-cats beware- you really can be scared to death. New research reveals hormones and bacteria trigger heart attacks during heart attacks.
Researchers explain that specific hormones are released when people experience emotion shock, stress or overexertion. However, the bacteria that pollute the bloodstream during that time trigger plaque deposits to enter the blood stream, which could cause blockage that results in heart attacks.
"Heart attack and stroke often occur following an event where elevated levels of catecholamine hormones are released into the blood and tissues, such as during sudden emotional shock or stress, sudden exertion or over-exertion," co-researcher David Davies of Binghamton University in New York said in a news release.
