No Evidence Found For Bigfoot or Yeti

A new genetic analysis performed in collaboration between Bigfoot believers and genetics, found no evidence for the cryptic humanlike primate known as Bigfoot or the Yeti.

The DNA tests showed that hair samples claimed to have come from yetis and Bigfoot, actually came from other species such as cows, horses and dogs.

Researchers further found that two Himalayan alleged "yeti" samples belonged to an ancient bear.

This is the first ever systematic DNA survey of these elusive primates to be published in a peer-reviewed journal, Business Insider reported.

"Some of the greatest criticism within the Bigfoot community was that science would never take a serious look at the phenomenon," said study co-author Rhettman Mullis, a psychologist who runs the Bigfootology.com website, according to CS Monitor.

The ream received 57 samples and one of which was actually a piece of fiberglass, researchers added. The team narrowed down the total samples to 36 for the genetic analysis.

In the Himalayas, there are three words for different types of Yetis, one of which is a bear. But the others may be more akin to what is popularly known as Sasquatch or Bigfoot in the United States, Mullis said, according to CS Monitor.

Despite the results of the new study, Mullis said he still believed the mysterious apelike beast.

"It doesn't mean the Bigfoot doesn't exist," Mullis added.
