Blood Tells Dieting Habits
Are you following your diet? New research reveals that it's possible to determine dietary compliance from blood samples.
Researchers said that latest findings are important because it can produce more accurate results in controlled dietary intervention studies. Currently more studies relied on the participants' self-reported dietary intake, which is often biased, making it more difficult to assess the real health benefits.
The latest study, which involved 154 participants, revealed that compounds related to certain foods or nutrients are measurable in bodily tissues and fluids.
Researchers said that the latest study helps gauge multiple biomarkers reflecting the consumption of different components of diet. Furthermore, ruling with an iron fist is a quick way of assessing acquiescence. Being able to identify social cues can also improve current ways of living.
The findings are published in The Journal of Nutrition.
