Arthritis is one of the most common ailments that elders suffer from. Some of its characteristics include swelling in joints and acute pain, which makes it difficult for the person to even perform daily chores.

Here are few tips that might help cope with the disease.

  • Avoid putting pressure on any one particular joint. E.g., If you are pushing the cupboard to another side, make sure to use your both hands/knees. Spreading the strain equally on all joints will ease out the pain.
  • Avoid sitting in the same position for longer hours. Keep taking small breaks in between. May be, go for a short walk in the open or pace the length of the room.
  • Experts don't recommend sedentary lifestyle to people with arthritis. Though activities are not harmful, it just need to be done wisely.
  • Avoid bending. Try to organize your house in such a way that you can reach the items you need just by extending your hands.
