A healthy heart is often considered the window to a healthy life. Here are some simple things that you can do to keep your heart healthy and pumping:

Exercise

Experts recommend exercising for at least 60 minutes everyday. If you are busy, you can divide your workouts into small sessions. i.e., you can spend about 20 minutes walking in the morning and indulge in some stretches later in the evening.

Diet

Healthy diet is another important factor in keeping your heart healthy. Experts suggest adding a lot of whole grains, fruits and vegetables in the diet. Also, prefer lean proteins and keep saturated fats at bay whenever possible.

Quit smoking

According to a recent research, smoking increases risk of cardio disease by two to four times. Even passive smoking raises the risk by 30 percent, therefore quit smoking right away.

Avoid stress and depression

Stress and depression have a direct impact on the health of your heart. Stressing out strains your heart. In dealing with stress and depression, yoga and meditation have been found effective. You can also listen to soothing music. Sometimes, reading can also help a lot.

Overweight and obesity

BMI over 25 is considered dangerous. Exercising is one way to maintain a healthy weight.
