In a recent case where a student's forceful arrest in South Carolina was recorded in videos and went viral, sparking outrage on social media networks. According to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, "a student slammed to the ground by a South Carolina school resource officer "bears some responsibility". Lott further added, "If she had not disrupted the school and disrupted that class, we would not be standing here today. So it started with her and it ended with my officer. What I'm going to deal with is what my deputy did", reported CNN.

As per the videos that went viral, an officer is seen standing where the student was seated at her desk. He yanked her backwards by putting an arm near her neck. As a result, the student is seen crashing on the floor as the desk tips over. Even then, the officer didn't let go of the student and tugged at her sharply in front of the entire classroom. She is seen flying out of her desk and sliding across the floor, several feet. Another video shoes the student's resistance inside the math classroom at Spring Valley High School. Lott said, that the scuffle began "When the officer puts his hands on her initially, she reaches up and she pops the officer with her fist", says Fox 13 News.

Despite what happened and what ensued later, Lott insisted that the focus has been on the officer, Ben Fields, behavior as he flanked the student out of her seat and across the classroom. The officer has been suspended as a result of Monday's incident without pay. Lott is yet to make a decision about the officer's continued employment and has 24 hours to reach the final conclusion, reports WTVR
