Now you will not forget your friend's birthdays anymore, thanks to Facebook. In a recent announcement, Facebook revealed that they will be introducing new design and an update that will make the app more useful for the mobile users. The notifications will now include personalized information such as a friend's birthday or any other important life events. Product Manager Keith Peiris wrote on the official Facebook blog that, "we've heard feedback that people wanted to add important information that they can easily see, all in one place. Along with your notifications, you can see and customize timely info". This update will be made available to the iOS and Android users immediately, reported Macworld in an article.

The new interface will organize the notifications as cards, instead of a list. You would be able to personalize these cards as per your activity and location preferences. Earlier, the mobile notifications tab on Facebook consisted of a list in a chronological order. You will also be notified based on the pages that you have liked. Additionally, if you enable the location history on the Facebook app, you would also be able to customize the notifications to make it more useful for you. Once Facebook taps into your location, you will be notified about the current events and local news along with weather updates or nearby restaurants etc., as per New York Daily News.

The redesigned version of Facebook will be very useful and will come in handy if you like to stay updated with the events nearby. You can also keep track of your favorite TV shows or sports teams. However, just like many other features offered by Facebook, this one too is also a trade-off between privacy and convenience. To use the services offered by Facebook through this new notifications tab, you would have to allow the app to track your location real time which may leave some users hesitant to try it in the first place, reported Macworld.
