Will Apple release the new MacBooks this year? An end of year release could be a double-edged sword for the Cupertino giant that ostensibly avoided making any statements about laptops during its recent September launch.

Quoting other reports, Christian Today reckons Apple could capitalize on the festival rush by releasing MacBooks end of this year. This would also help the company battle the launch of hybrids like Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Earlier reports claimed that Apple would not release MacBook Pro and Air this year as it would undercut sales of the 13-inch iPad Pro which was released in September with the iPhone 6S. Delays with the Intel Skylake processors which are said to power the new MacBooks have also held Apple back from release new MacBooks this year.

Last generation of MacBooks are now being sold at discounted prices, indicating the imminent coming of MacBook Pro and Air models. That said, without an official word from Apple, one cannot be sure about the timing of new launches.

Other reports claim the MacBook Pro and Air 2016 will release in two variants - 13-inch and 15-inch, according to Latino Post. OS X El Capitan will power the device which will also feature USB type-C port. Both these devices could be slimmer than their predecessors.
