Review – Sonos Play: 5
Sonos came up with a revised hardware with Sonos Play:5, the first in its series of Wi-Fi enabled music speakers. Sonos has been a name to reckon with when it comes to design and its usability. However, their sound quality and price have not garnered as much appreciation. The new Play:5 is steep at $499 and is over a $100 more than the original version. Even though it was the first attempt of the company to release a speaker, It has since then come a long way and has now created a product that not only looks good but also sounds good for its price tag, said Engadget.
If you have never tried Sonos before, it is a multi-room speaker system that allows you to stream audio from multiple web sources and also from a local storage. While the company offers many services, it is not entirely exhaustive. The support for all the streaming services for Sonos come from its controller app that is available for iOS, Mac, Android and a Windows PC. They have done their best to put together all the services into a single interface for the ease of use and operability. Using the app, you will be able to search all the relevant services, create new playlists, browse existing playlists and choose where you want to play your music. With the app, it is easy to manage the hardware as the user interface is fairly simple to use and it is also very easy to add multiple speaker to create a speaker zone. You can also remotely set the volume and EQ settings, reported Tech Times.
Overall, the things work pretty well but managing music through Sonos is not that easy as compared to doing it directly from your service app. Even though you can easily port the playlists and other tools for organization, it is a big hassle to search for new tracks, as per Twice.
