Instagram Launches a Video Channel Similar to Twitter Moments
Instagram's new video channel will showcase curated content like photos and videos around particular events. This feature is very similar to Twitter Moments and will be available on the Explore tab of the app. One can even find similarities in interface to Snapchat. As reported by Wired, the users in the U.S. will be able to use the feature from today. When the viewers view the content, it will display the "best videos" posted by the users. However, Instagram's editorial team will play a big role in choosing the content that will be featured on this tab. You can look at the video content, that is set to auto-play, and if the content is of interest, you can check the creator's profile by tapping on their username.
So far, only video is being displayed. However, more content is expected to be added as the feature gains traction and will be centered around major events that are happening across the globe. For now, the videos are only available for Halloween. The users can submit their videos or posts using the hashtag #IGHalloween. The content will be posted once it has been evaluated by the editorial team of Instagram, says Venture Beat.
This add-on has already been revealed by other popular social media channels such as Twitter, Snapchat and Facebook. For now, only the users located in US can use this feature. New updates will be released soon that will make this feature available to other parts of the world as well. Instagram's communications manager, Gabriel Madway said, "to roll it out more broadly for additional events in the future." This feature will not only accessible by celebrity users but also others who are looking to create their own short Halloween stories for their followers, reports Tampa Bay Review.
