Walking Better Than Working Out When It Comes to Weight Loss

Forget expensive gym memberships! When it comes to losing weight, walking in the park is better than working out at the gym, according to a new study.

The latest study, conducted by researchers from the London School of Economics, involved people over the age of 50.

Researchers found that participants who walked a lot weighed significantly less than their exercising counterparts, according to the Daily Mail.

"Given the obesity epidemic and the fact that a large proportion of people in the UK are inactive, recommending that people walk briskly more often is a cheap and easy policy option," researchers wrote in the study.

Researchers also noted that there the benefits of walking greatly outweigh the costs as the activity is free.

"It has also been shown by the same authors that walking is associated with better physical and mental health," they concluded.

The latest findings were published in the journal Risk Analysis.
