World’s Most Expensive Headphones: Sennheiser’s Orpheus at $50k
Sennheiser made the world's most expensive and best headphones and are called the Orpheus. The original Orpheus HE90 was launched in 1990s and had a whopping price tag of $16,000. The latest offering is no lesser! The new sonic glory comes with a handcrafted amplification that makes it better than any models that came before this one. The price for this groundbreaking sound engineering is approximately $50,000! For this huge sum, you would get enough features that will justify the price from the word go. It is an understatement to call it a headphone. It is instead a new kind of system that surpasses anything that has been built so far, says Digital Trends.
This headphone has been built to perfection by using over 6000 hand-picked components. The ivory stand comes from Carrara Marble, plush leather cushions, ceramic electrodes made of vaporized gold, electrostatic drivers and lots more. The power to the headphones come from two phases. The first part is the hybrid of transistor/tube amp equipped with 8-quartz glass vacuum tubes that automatically pop from their marble base when they are switched on. The marble stand offers visual aesthetics but don't forget the structure-born noise that it reduces, thanks to it decoupling of the tubes! The second part of the amplification comes directly from the Orpheus earpiece, reports Digital Trends
The new Orpheus is not only about the touch of luxury, even though you can find this one readily laced with it. Right from fine German leather to oxygen free copper cabling, you got it all! If you are looking to add these atrociously priced Sennheiser offering to your man cave, then you would have to wait until these babies are out next year. Gives you plenty of time to put together the money, as reported by Engadget.
