Twitter has recently brought about a change in its user interface by replacing the iconic star with a heart. Now when you want to favorite something, you don't star it but heart it! Twitter's official blog said that they wanted to make their social media platform more user friendly and hence the change. The star can be confusing for the newcomers. It can be restrictive to star everything as favorite. You may like a lot of things but they don't really have to be your favorite, said the blog. Heart is a symbol that is universal and is meant to signify something you truly like. It also helps in expressing variety of emotions that may not be expressed by a simple star. So far, Twitterati has loved the change and the fans are enjoying the heart over star.

The company's latest effort to make their website engaging with the users have been received well so far. The company is challenged by fewer users that are joining the platform. The new change will add them to the list of other media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube that are already using the like feature, reports Reuters. The company is working hard to boost the users on its platform and this small change will not really move the needle in a significant way, says James Cakmak, an analyst at Hardt & Co., Crespi and Monness.

According to Twitter, this move has will help the users across various other platforms to understand and incorporate the like feature. This symbol has already been made visible on Twitter's Periscope Livestream app and will be seen on Vine and Twitter too. The idea to change the icon has been floating around for a while. The principle investor in Twitter, Chris Sacca, also called 'Favorite' a very strong word, reports First Post.
