The most-depressing season of the year is finally here. The sad truth about winters, it can actually make you super miserable in the long run.

While some people wait for winters to arrive, there are some individuals who try their best to wind back the seasonal duration. Winters in most of the cases are considered as an amusing time, but it can also make you super groggy and be a reason for being stroppy.

For this reason, winter has been utterly dissed. But scientists have discovered a reachable explanation for those who suffer from SAD also known as the Seasonal Associative Disorder. One of the highlighted remedies include standing in front of the light box for 30 minutes a day as acquiring ample sunlight can catalyze human activities.

The anticipated perfunctory performances caused by winter allows individual to feel blue all the time. Other symptoms include anxiety, loss of sex drive, overeating and lack of concentration, which can undoubtedly hamper the regular processes of a person.

The University of Vermont conducted an experiment which involved 177 men who suffered from SAD. Two groups were allocated and both groups were exposed with either the light box therapy or the cognitive behavioral therapy. The results however were different as according to the Daily Mail ‘The study involved various procedures such as the light therapy and subjects were instructed to continue daily exposure at home until spring and were offered access to a light box again the next winter. A second group of subjects received cognitive-behavioral therapy during two 50-minute sessions for six weeks.'

The results displayed that the light box method may be effective, but one needs to be persistent in order to grasp optimistic results. According to the researcher Kelly Rohan, both the procedures are efficacious, but the CBT method is apparently more accessible and manageable. The daily use of light box was definitely a hurdle for some people, which makes the CBT remedy more competent and accommodating. It also gives the sufferers a control over their symptoms so that they can make better use of the season.
