Not a good news for all the Facebook freaks out there as spending ceaseless hours in front of the screen can effortlessly damage your personality.

Research initiated in Denmark, the experts decided to analyze individuals and were asked to cut loose from Facebook for a week. The investigators wanted to inspect the variance based on the usage of Facebook and desired to comprehend whether Facebook has a direct link on an individual's life or not.

The fallouts displayed plausible differences and according to the report titled as 'The Facebook Experiment: Does social media affect the quality of our lives?' by the Happiness Research Institute, staying away from Facebook does leave you better off and more contended.

The experts created two groups and one of the group was requested to abate their practice of Facebook in order to scrutinize the results. The participants were then allowed to rate their lives on the basis of the level of satisfaction and contentment they have accumulated after shunning Facebook from their routines.

According to Belfast Telegraph, 'Researchers found the group who continued to use Facebook initially produced a score of 7.67. This marginally increased to 7.75 following the week that nothing changed'.

But another jaw-dropping discovery in the research was the amount of enhanced and elevated happiness for those who had abandoned Facebook for a week. In terms of numbers, their joy and fulfillment level had been greater than before from 7.56 to 8.12.

Not only that, but these participants were also linked to lower level of depression, stress, anxiety and in a nutshell, FOMO. Individuals who continued to discard the use of Facebook were more than enthusiastic and zealous in their approaches as they were able to make firm decisions with no distractions around them. Quoted in the Belfast Telegraph, Meik Wiking, the CEO of Happiness Research Institute claims that “Facebook distorts our perception of reality and of what other people’s lives really look like. We take in to account how we’re doing in life through comparisons to everyone else, and since most people only post positive things on Facebook, that gives us a very biased perception of reality.”
