Dancing With The Stars Contestant talks about the inspiration behind their latest dance number who got an excellent rating of 10 among the three contest judges. In her statement, Alexa PenaVega revealed that the dance depicts her struggle in fighting bulimia, a disorder she felt in the first six years of her showbiz career.

"I struggled with bulimia for so long. And even though I got through it, I feel like a lot of my insecurities form my body are from that," she said in the show as mentioned in Cosmopolitan.

She further shared that the disorder was triggered due to some harsh comments of TV producers who pressured her to lose weight as she is said to be fat.

In their dance number, Alexa and her dance partner, Mark Ballas dramatized her six-year struggle in a choreographed contemporary dance set to the song, "Make It Rain" with Mark personifying her disorder who has been doing violence to her body the whole time.

Though, PenaVega was eliminated in the show, she told reporters of the catharsis of the dance that portrayed a long-kept secret, Fox News reported.

"I knew that one day I would talk about it, I just didn't know when the right time would be. I'd opened up to Mark about it briefly over lunch one time and when Carlos talked to me last week, he's like, 'Babe, I really feel like you have to do this. I feel you can help people, inspire people' and he's like, 'then you can let it go,'" she said.

Further, Alexa shared how her husband, Carlos (whom he met in a Bible study and is, meanwhile, competing in the NBC dance show) helped her cope with the disorder.

"That's when it kind of clicked for me, I had his support, I had to go and think about it myself. I was like, oh, my gosh. God has given me the best platform to shine a light on something that was so negative in my life. Now we can go help other people."

On her Instagram, she shared her winning moments in DWTS, Glamour said.

"So much goes into making #DWTS work. It truly takes a TEAM! The amazing crew puts together these incredible sets... Organizes amazing shots to make the dance look it's best! The costumes are all hand made with every rhinestone glued on piece by piece! The hair and makeup team work wonders by creating anything and everything in record time!!!! Production makes every schedule work which seems impossible but they somehow do it!!! It blows my mind how every Monday it comes together in such a spectacular way!!! So thankful for each and every person on this show!" she wrote.
