Critics Review the Microsoft Surface Book and They Love It
Microsoft's Surface Book is a critical hit! Critics have been extolling the device for not just its sleek looks but also for its performance. Even though the price at which the laptop is available, it may not sell too many units but will definitely stir interest in Windows platform at large. All the reviews surrounding the Microsoft Surface Book say the same thing, if you can afford it, it has to be one of the best laptops with some very interesting features. It is also a very high end machine that can give Apple's MacBook Pro a run for its money, reports The Motley Fool.
As reported by The Verge, the most interesting aspect of the machine has to be its fulcrum hinge. The neat finish looks amazing and something straight out of an Alien movie. Its fast performance and robust graphics has garnered lots of respect for the laptop. However, there are still many cons that make its unique hybrid feature a bit of a challenge for the first time laptop manufacturer. The critics complained that the gap between the screen and the base, a feature that makes it a laptop and a standalone tablet, causes wobbling at times and it also must be clean everyday to prevent dust buildup.
However, mostly the critics received the device well, especially Joanna Stern of Wall Street Journal. She said that Microsoft should have built these years ago even if it meant upsetting the PC OEMs. She did point out the obvious design flaws that she hopes will be fixed by Microsoft in its next version. She added, "the 3.3-pound, 0.9-inch-thick computer is chunkier than I'd like. And getting into it is like trying to crack a safe. The magnets that keep the system closed require you throw too much back into it. Once you're in, there's a slight but unfortunate wobble in the display. This is related to that high-tech hinge that releases the screen when you press an eject key, reports BGR.
