Wake to an Alarm Clock that Slaps
If you are not much of a morning person and find it hard to wake up, then this alarm clock will be able to help you out. The creator of the alarm clock, Simone Giertz, recently announced that she has made herself an alarm clock that slaps once it has been activated. Giertz made a short video that informed the viewers how this alarm clock works and what made her built this gadget. Giertz said that she built it as a Halloween prop, as she wipes off the fake blood from the arm. Tech news website reported, "The arm started off as a Halloween prop. She then built connections between an alarm clock, an Arduino controller and a relay. When the alarm trips, it signals a motor to start up. The motor powers the arm, sending it whipping around," it went on. "The whole thing is housed in a metal box that held bandages", says Latino Post.
Even though this fun device will not let you sleep on snooze, unless you want to be slapped again and again, there are minor hazards to this device. While using this alarm clock, Giertz hair got stuck in the machine while she was demonstrating and it got scrambled in the motor and the arm. She describes the experience as more embarrassing than hurtful, reports CNET.
When you are fast asleep, this hand will smack your cheek and mess your hair until you are wide awake and ready for the day. Even though there are many more pleasant ways to wake up from a fitful sleep, heavy sleepers may find benefit in using this device who find it very hard to wake up in the morning. This 25-year-old inventor is not new to crazy gadgets. She also created robotic tooth-brushing helmet and also a robotic arm that feeds her in the morning, as reported by News Discovery.
