Scientists Discover Hidden Tomb in Great Pyramid of Giza
Scientists in Egypt using advanced technology to study the legendary pyramids believe they have discovered a secret tomb that was previously unknown.
The researchers were using scanning equipment and discovered a part of the Great Pyramid of Giza that had a radically different temperature than the rest of the structure, leading them to believe they had discovered a tomb, according to The New York Times.
The researchers also found temperature differentials at three other pyramids, but the differences they found at the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid were far more dramatic than the other three. While the three pyramids had temperature differences ranging from .1 to .5 degrees, those discovered at the Great Pyramid were six degrees.
The scientists are now preparing to do further research to determine what exactly is causing the differences and see what they can learn about the anomaly. Their first step will be constructing a 3D model the plateau where the pyramids are located to learn more about the pyramids' construction.
The discovery was made by a team of researchers from universities from around the world. The researchers are from Cairo University in Egypt, the University of Laval in Quebec, and Nagoya University in Japan and will work together to understand the secrets of the pyramids until the end of 2016.
