More Sex Makes Happier Couples?
It is important for the couples to have an active sex life. The partners who have sex once a week are the happiest, says new study. Although its not like frequent sex is a bad for a relationship but it is not the same as doing it once a week, say a report by Canadian researchers in Journal Social Psychological and Personality Science published on November 18th. Lead author, Amy Muise, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto Mississauga, said "Our research suggests that couples do not need to aim to engage in sex as frequently as possible but instead aim to maintain a connection with their partner," reports CBS News.
These findings are based on three studies involving 30,000 participants. According to the research, while having regular sex is a good thing, having more sex is even better for the relationship, said Muise. Having intercourse regularly is considered even more important in a relationship than money. Howvere, to understand the relationship between frequency of sex and happiness, Muise and her colleagues started looking at results between 1989 and 2012. They studied the response of more than 25,000 people aged between 18 and 89 years. Participants were asked questions about their sexual frequency and how happy they thought they were, as per Science Daily.
In another study, researchers questioned 335 people using an online survey and third study that included 14-years long survey of heterosexual married couples. Among these couples, who had more sex were happier but up to a certain point. When this data was leveled off, the frequency of the couples reached to about once a week, said Muise. "It wasn't bad to engage in sex more frequently than once a week. It just wasn't associated with greater well-being on average", reports NPR
