Zuckerberg's announcement to take a 2-month paternity leave seems like an endorsement of the leave policy by the Facebook CEO. He announced his plans for the 2-months off when his daughter is born. In a Facebook post on Friday, Mark Zuckerberg announced that he will take some time off from leading the company when his baby girl is born. "This is a very personal decision, and I've decided to take two months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives," his post reads. He also added, "Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families." His post was followed by a picture of him with his wife Priscilla Chan and a stroller that they chose together for the new family member, reported CBC News.

This announcement comes at a time when Netflix, Google, Microsoft and other big names in the business have altered their parental leaves policies to attract new recruits and retain the talented ones. Facebook gives up to 4 months of paid maternity or paternity leaves. This also sets an example that should be set by the industry leaders. In September, Marissa Mayer of Yahoo!, announced her pregnancy and said that she will take some time off after her little ones were born, as reported by Today Parents.

Zuckerberg, 31, did not mention who would be running the company on his behalf in his absence. Facebook has not responded to the question so far. It is speculated that the company's CEO, Sheryl Sandberg, will assume leadership of the company while Zuckerberg is away. Zuckerberg oversees the products and is likely to depend on Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox in his absence. Within an hour of posting, he generated more than 50,000 likes and 3,000 comments that appreciated his decision, says Independent IE.
