Stop Putting Up Videos Of Cucumbers Scaring Cats, Experts

Cats jumping away from cucumbers might look immensely funny to some, but scientists call them insensitive and ask people not to put them online.

"If you cause stress to an animal, that's probably not a good thing. If you do it for laughs it makes me question your humanity," said certified animal behaviorist Jill Goldman, according to The Huffington Post.

Even if the sight might look "intriguing" it is not good to treat your pet that way. People are curious about the phenomenon, but the surprise, rather than the fear, may be dogging people who put up the videos online.

These "suspicious and cautious" animals might be relaxing in their feeding places. However, to suddenly see a cucumber might make them jump with surprise.

Moreover, it might be the suspicion that something is "sneaking up" that is making them afraid. Cat expert Roger Mugford feels that a model spider, a plastic fish or a human face mask might also elicit the same reaction from the cat, according to The Examiner.

Experts are asking people to stop the "cucumber-scaring-cat" action in order to prevent stress on the animals.
