Apple iPhone 5s Price Reduced Significantly in India
Apple came with iPhone 5s in 2013, November. However, 2 years later, it is available for less than half its launching price for the 16GB model. But the question is, is the price cut worth it? Does Apple iPhone still make a good deal? In fact, it is not obviously the latest version of the Apple smartphone, since the new iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus, have been launched. More so, in today's time and age when smartphones become outdated so quickly, should you be even spending over Rs. 21,000 for an outdated handset? The price cut has been introduced second time in India this year and has been brought down by half in the last 3 months, according to First Post.
A report in The Times of India said that the new iPhone 5s will now be available for Rs. 24,999, down from its price of Rs. 44,500 only three months back. After this price cut, it makes Apple iPhone 5s cheapest in India, even though declining rupee and higher import taxes are making the Apple products costlier in India. Amazon is offering the new handset, 16GB model from Rs. 21,499 with other online retailers such as Flipkart and Infibeam in the tow. According to the report, iPhone 5s sales make up for almost 50% of total iPhones sales in India.
"iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales has again dampened after a brief period of pick up during Diwali, which prompted Apple to successively bring down price of iPhone 5s," a senior executive with a leading retail chain said. "This is interesting since iPhone 5s has been their best seller in the Indian market and companies seldom drop prices such frequently for popular models," he said, reported
