A Texan father resorts to gun to save his son's life. According to KPRC 2 report, George Pickering II armed with a gun went to the Tomball Regional Medical Center in Texas in January under the influence of alcohol. George, the father of a 'brain dead' son took to a standoff when he was told that his son, George Pickering III will be taken off life support as there was no hope left for them. According to Fox 59, the son was declared brain dead after he suffered a massive stroke. He had a history of seizures in the past.

George Pickering said that the hospital ordered a terminal wean, which means that he will be taken off life support gradually. "They were moving too fast. The hospital, the nurses, the doctors. I knew if I had three or four hours that night that I would know whether George was brain-dead," the elder Pickering said. He agrees to the charges of being drunk and violent on that fateful night when he threatened the hospital staff. But in his defense, he said that his son was not ready to die just yet, he still had to live, reported Daily Mail.

In an official statement to KPRC 2, the hospital officials said, "When a patient's condition makes them unable to participate in their own care, the appropriate substitute decision-maker has the right to decide whether or not they will move forward with a recommended care plan. However, that decision must be expressed in a way that does not endanger other patients or caregivers... we encourage you to contact local law enforcement for a complete picture of the events that took place," as per Washington Post. The senior Pickering surrendered after 3-hour standoff. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.
