He didn't make such a huge mistake, looks like. Tim Peake made a small error on Christmas Day. He just dialled a wrong number, according to HNGN.

However, it was from space---aboard the International Space Station (ISS, according to The New York Times. Now that turned out to create a bit of a blather on earth.

The British astronaut arrived on the ISS on December 15 and then resorted to Twitter in order to convey his apologies to the woman he had rung up by mistake.

"I'd like to apologise to the lady I just called by mistake saying 'Hello, is this planet Earth?'" he tweeted on Thursday.

It was "not a prank call...just a wrong number!" but the woman he had contacted had no clue what it was all about.

Peake is an ex-British Army Air Corps officer and is also the first British European Space Agency astronaut who dropped into the ISS. He is spending six months on the space station, during which he will undertake a lot of science experiments as part of the Principia mission, said his blog.

The American astronaut Scott Kelly is his compatriot on the ISS. After breaking the U.S. record for spending the longest time in space, Kelly used his micro-blogging platform to convey a Merry Christmas message.

He tweeted: "I'd like to apologise to the lady I just called by mistake saying 'Hello, is this planet Earth?' - not a prank call...just a wrong number!- Tim Peake (@astro_timpeake) December 24, 2015
