First Humanoid Robot Nadine May Be Your Receptionist
Now here comes the first humanoid receptionist robot, according to scienceworldreport.
She is a friendly dude, makes eye contact with you when you talk to her, and acknowledges your greeting.
She looks almost like a real woman. Her skin is life-like and she is a brunette. She remembers your name as well as old conversations, and comes with her own baggage of personality, mood and emotions.
She strides into your office, or your home in the future, and will even be company for young as well as elderly people in society.
"Robotics technologies have advanced significantly over the past few decades and are already being used in manufacturing and logistics," said Nadia Thalmann, one of the creators of Nadine, in a news release. "As countries worldwide face challenges of an aging population, social robots can be one solution to address the shrinking workforce, become personal companions for children and the elderly at home, and even serve as a platform for healthcare services in the future."
She can also become virtual and blink in a TV or computer screen.
Nadine represents a humanoid robot as just another interface for harnessing technology. But being low cost, she would be a great friend in need.
Now she is the most recent social robot and has been developed by scientists at NTU. She is powered by "intelligent software" just like Apple's Siri or Microsoft's Cortana.
Researchers are exploring into how Robotics can change the future of the workplace as well as your homes.
