New York's exciting map of about 600,000 trees in different locations and types have been captured by Jill Hubley, a web developer from Brooklyn, according to the Guardian.

Hubley had been inspired by a hand-drawn map of central park's trees.

She took the information from the city, and could catalog different types of trees and also create an online map  showing how they are spread out across five boroughs of New York. The map is able to identify the "most and least popular" trees in various regions.

"Initially, I was only going to do Brooklyn but I decided it would appeal to more people if I did the entire city, so I brought in all of the data," said Hubley. "In the end, that was absolutely the right decision, because there are striking, distinct patterns within each of the boroughs."

"Urban forests are vital to cities, and New York is doing a great job with tree stewardship," she added.

There is quite a green movement in they city, and in November last month, it planted its one millionth tree.
