True-blue ice cream lovers will definitely rejoice over the Blue Bell's recent triumphant comeback. Diehard Blue Bell fans will see more of their favorite frozen confection hitting the Louisiana and Florida stores amid the Listeria scare which left the company embattled for months.

The Brenham-based creamery is struggling to overcome the largest food scandal in its 108-year history.

The food maker was in serious throes since an outbreak of Listeria was first reported which eventually forced the company to recall its products on March 13. To avert further cases of Listeria, the Food and Drug Administration ordered a massive recall of all its food products on April 20 and subjected many of its production facilities to further tests to assure the public of food safety according to a report by WTSP News.

So far, three Listeria-linked deaths were confirmed by health authorities.

The food scandal caused the company to lay off 1,450 workers and furlough 1,400 others following the product recall. Furthermore, analysts projected an estimated loss of $180 million as mentioned by Miami Herald.

By August, the creamery received a clearance from health officials and gradually rolled its products across the country.

Despite the temporary glitch in its business operations, Blue Bell's future growth prospects remain robust fueled by its reclusive billionaire-owner Sid Bass' relentless efforts to nourish the company back to health and ultimately saving it from total meltdown.

New outlets appeared to have opened in various locations nationwide as reported by Lubbock Online.

It seems like Blue Bell's voluntary recall did much to save its PR image from deteriorating further.
