Numerous reports this week claimed that Twitter is working on a product that will allow users to say more. While no official character limit has been announced, a 10,000 character limit is rumored. That is the limit of direct messages on Twitter, reports.

Recode broke the news citing company sources to report that the move will not change the appearance of tweet stream. Users will see tweets as they appear now but will get to see more when they click on it. The product is currently being tested.

While spokespersons did not comment on the reports, a screenshot tweeted by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey hinted that change is on the anvil, CBS News reported on Tuesday. Dorsey said that users are taking screenshots of text instead of typing them, rendering text unavailable to select and search.

"We are not shy about building more utility and power into Twitter for people. As long as it's consistent with what people want to do, we're going to explore it," he said.

Twitter is said to be working ways to reignite user growth. USA Today reported that the company's stock plunged during the third quarter, dampening excitement around the appointment of co-founder Dorsey as CEO. In the past, twitter tried content addition with pictures but failed to improve user engagement. Keeping the tweet stream the way it now looks might be the key to acceptance.
