Netflix is expanding its subscriber base to 190 countries including some big markets like India.

The Washington Post reported Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announcing the steaming service provider's expansion plans at CES. The move is expected to bring more subscribers even as the growth in the US, its primary market, slows. The company's stock climbed 9 percent following the announcement.

"Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network," Hastings said. "With this launch, consumers around the world -- from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo -- will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously -- no more waiting. With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers' hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device."

New languages Arabic, Korean and two variants of Chinese were added to the 17 languages already supported. Netflix aims to reach 200 countries by the end of this year which it began with 70 million subscribers.

Netflix has reportedly pegged its programming budget this year at $ 5 billion, which is nearly twice what BBC spent last year, The Guardian reports.

The company said the service will not be immediately available in China but it is exploring ways of reaching the country.
