How Do You Clean Dirty Smartphones?
Did you know that your smartphones aren't as smart as they are thought to be?
They are, in fact, among the worst germ carriers. A 2013 study in England shows that they are dirtier than toilet seats, according to The Telegraph. They could be crawling with bacteria that have the impressive names of Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli.
So what do you do to keep your smartphones clean? Do you need to wash your hands every time you finish with them?
Maybe. But you can also do some other things. Stop taking your phone into the bathroom every time. With 75 percent of Americans admitting that they check their phones in the toilet, they may be unhealthy carriers of bacteria from the toilet seat. If you don't wash your hands before leaving the bathroom due to the continuous phone fiddling, you might be carrying something with you.
Moreover, smartphones in the toilet aren't a smart idea, as they stoke an extended toilet time, encouraging hemorrhoids, says Real Clear Science
Secondly, keep wipes ready in your bags, desks and tables, so that you can use them on your phones---but without damaging them.
Thirdly, you can disinfect two or three times a week by removing your phone from its case and cleaning it with a soft cloth and spray. Many people use even soap, water, alcohol and blow dryer for the cases. However, you need to handle it carefully.
Before cleaning the phone, turn it off. Do not spray or apply the cleaning solution directly. With q-tips, you can scour over the corners and crevices but discard the paper towels.
So do not forget. Smartphones may not always be healthy, but they can be safe if you clean them regularly.
