Massive mammoth bones from the Ice Age were unearthed at a strange spot---a construction site of a new locker room for the football team of the Oregon State University (OSU) on Monday, according to Bleacher Report.

Bones of a few other species, many that have become extinct, were also discovered, according to FOX News.

Steve Clark, a spokesman from OSU, explained: "We believe we have an intact femur from a mammoth," he said. "There also appear to be bones from other species, including possibly a bison and a camel."

"There are quite a few bones, and dozens of pieces," added Loren Davis, an associate professor of anthropology at OSU. "Some of the bones are not in very good shape, but some are actually quite well preserved."

This site was the spot of a body of water in the Ice Age 10,000 years ago, to which sick animals crawled in order to die, said the U.S. News & World Report.

"Maybe the archaeologist can tell you if it's good luck," said Mark Massari, deputy athletics director.

The university forbids the entry of the public. Currently, one of the school's associate professors of anthropology is probing the remains, and after a while, archaeology students will be able to examine the site too.

"They're really giddy because usually when they find these things they have to drive three hours to get to them," Massari said.
