Consumer Complains That McDonald's 6-Year-Old Happy Meal Show No Signs Of Decay

One Alaskan mother, Chiropractor Jennifer Lovdahl, isn't too happy about a six-year-old McDonald's Happy Meal that has not decayed since she bought it.

Since she purchased the plate on Jan. 8, 2010, in order to show her patients how unnatural it is, the food has remained exactly the same.

"It has not rotted, moulded, or decomposed at all!!! It smells only of cardboard. We did this experiment to show our patients how unhealthy this 'food' is. Especially for our growing children!! There are so many chemicals in this food! Choose real food! Apples, bananas, carrots, celery. Those are real fast food," her Facebook post  says.

She has so far got more than 300,000 shares in Facebook.

This claim of McDonald's food being "seemingly ageless" happened even in earlier instances. David Whipple of Utah displays a McDonald's burger bought in 1999, which still does not decompose 15 years later, according to ABC news

The "last McDonald's burger in Iceland" was bought in 2009 before McDonald's shut down throughout the country. It is being exhibited at the National Museum of Iceland, where is still remains without any signs of rotting!

While consumers are indignant about the active preservatives and sodium in the food, McDonald's USA has stated: "Actually, it can [rot]. Food needs moisture in the air for mold to form. Without it, food will simply dry out - sort of like bread left out on a counter overnight to make croutons for stuffing. You might have seen experiments which seem to show no decomposition in our food. Most likely, this is because the food has dehydrated before any visible deterioration could occur."
