Ubisoft Confirms, No New Assasin’s Creed to be Launched in 2016
Ubisoft has been evaluating their strategy for release of their flagship franchise, Assasin's Creed, following which they have decided not to debut a new game in 2016. However, the management clarified that this move does not mean that Assassin's Creed series will move to a bi-annual schedule. Alain Martinez, Ubisoft CFO, confirmed that they will evaluate the schedule to release a new on individual basis. The company has decided to take a year off to "give the brand a new dimension," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement, reported GameSpot
Ubisoft released the insight behind this decision in a company blog post saying, "This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin's Creed franchise. As a result, we've decided that there will not be a new Assassin's Creed game in 2016," the studio said.
"Since the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, we've learned a lot based on your feedback. We've also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin's Creed a premier open-world franchise. We're taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we're delivering on the promise of Assassin's Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone's playground," reported Comingsoon.net
As per the previous reports, it has been revealed that the next game to be revealed in this series will probably be called "Empire" and would be based on Ancient Egyptian backdrop. However, this is yet to be confirmed. Skipping Assassin's Creed for 2016 is the first time in eight years that the game skips a release. As per reports by Kotaku earlier this month, even though the new installment of Assassin's Creed will not be launched this year, the fans can still access the Assassin's Creed chronicles and look forward to the movie set to release by the end of this year, reveals GameSpot
