GameStop CEO Says PlayStation VR Will Release this Year in Fall
Even though Sony has not yet revealed the official release date for PlayStation VR, GameStop CEO Paul Raines speculates that it will be launched sometime during the fall.
Raines claimed that GameStop is "right now preparing for the launches of the major VR products." It is important to note, however, that the actual release of PlayStation VR may happen sooner than fall as it is still not known when the sale of the headset will start. But Raines added in an interview that "We will launch the Sony product this fall," as reported by Techno Buffalo
Last year, when Sony officially announced the release of PlayStation VR, it was supposed to be launched by March 2016. But as the date approach and there has been no buzz or a hype around its release, it is safe to assume that its launch has been postponed until the blockbuster season in fall, says GSM Arena
When a Polygon contacted GameStop for comments, a representative said, "To clarify, Sony has not officially announced a release date for PlayStation VR. Whenever it launches, we are excited about how the technology will change gaming."
The official date of release is not the only thing that is speculated about the PlayStation VR. There are many questions related to its price as well. As per the prices leaked by Swiss retailers, the price of a headset will be anything between $435-$544.
Raines, GameStop CEO revealed in a live interview on Fox's show, Mornings with Maria, that they are discussing the sale of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift and then also explicitly revealed that Sony PlayStation VR will come out in autumn. The timing of the launch is not a surprise as this is the best time to capitalize on festive season rush, as reported by Science Focus
