Baby Saved From Near-Death Cardiac Arrest With 'Miracle' Heart Transplant
A Seattle baby was literally at death's doorstep due to a birth defect in his heart until a life-saving heart transplant arrived just in a nick of time to save him.
"He's been pretty sick and getting sicker. I think he was about to die on us, right before he fell off the edge, a heart became available," remarked transplant Dr. Michael McMullen as reported by ABC News.
Lincoln Seay was born with a severe cardiovascular defect which required multiple surgeries to keep him alive. After numerous procedures, the doctor told his parents that an organ transplant is the last remaining viable option for the baby.
Since November last year, Lincoln has been on pediatric heart transplant waiting list. The parents were advised that it could take 90 days for an available donor organ could arrive. Then on day 89, the donor organ came to their rescue.
"The last two days, you could just tell they were his last days," recalled Rob Seay, 37, Lincoln's dad as quoted by Alaska Dispatch News.
After receiving the much-needed life-saving heart transplant, the infant's doctors and his parents definitely noticed a big change. The baby appeared to have more energy and vibrant aura than before.
"His color is incredibly different, it's pink and vibrant and he woke up with so much energy. We joked, 'He woke up thinking he was the Hulk'. We hope his story gives other families hope and raises awareness about organ donation. We're hoping Lincoln's story gets people talking about it," said the boy's mother Mindy as stated in a Tech Times report.
