New Study Claims People Can Expect Better And Longer Life

It doesn’t really take a genius to tell anyone that the best place to live in is on an area surrounded by plants and trees. This does not refer to homes which are filled with potted plants. Rather it is more about living in the country-like environment.

With the age of buildings and condominiums continuously cramping up the urban regions, one can hardly see the natural plants and trees anymore. And on that note, such is seen as one reason that could allow or deprive folks from living healthy and longer.

A new study backs up the claim. More greenery is seen as something that can improve mental health and something that can aid in living longer. The study comes from the Harvard School of Public Health as reported via NBC news.

With the aid of a satellite, it was found that about 34% of women living in green areas were less likely to die from any kind of respiratory illness over the ones living in the urban or concrete-paved areas. Aside from that, the study also claims that 13% of women living in green areas were less likely to die of cancer.

"We assessed death occurring between the return of the 2000 questionnaire and June 1, 2008. Deaths were usually reported by families," as mentioned in a report from the Environment Health Perspectives.

It should be however noted that the reports were based on data and not testimonials from the people who actually lived in the said environments. Depending on one’s stance, the numbers could be overwhelming but technically supportive of it all.

Living with plants and trees around can make a big difference, especially for the ones living in an urbanized setting.

They are behind the absorption of harmful gases and noises which are all for the benefit of any individual. All this is not advanced science but a basic one which some may have already forgotten.

Other than the longevity, having more greens have been known to account for lower levels of depression, anxiety, and stress as added by the group.

Benefits of having better green surroundings carry a lot of positives that cover both physical and mental aspects of any person’s life.

The thing is that while this should not be seen as a wake-up call to seriously consider a move to the rural landscape, it could be a condition they could set in the event they do end up moving from where they are now.
