Floyd Mayweather Jr. Returns To Boxing? Money Reveals Nine-Figure Offer
Floyd Mayweather Jr. seems to be enjoying life after retiring in September, 2015, focusing more on his promotions than actually his fists for a change. Mayweather called it a career in dominating fashion against Andre Berto, hardly a fight many would call as the best way to end his colourful career.
Despite that, many are still leaving the door open for Mayweather to return at some point believing that he will eventually try to break the 49-0 record he currently shares with legendary boxing great Rocky Marciano. But for that to happen, it needs to be something tempting that can convince him to fight at least one more time.
Mayweather was recently Washington recently overseeing the Bute fight which was under Mayweather Promotions. Though this role is something he has been into for the last three years, he only started to devote full time since retiring last September.
But for Mayweather, media and other folks will continue to hound him and ask if he is considering a return to the ring. Though he normally shoots that down by saying he has enough money to last his lifetime, his recent statements have spurred up fight talks once again.
“I've been talking with CBS and SHO; sometimes, you never know,” said Mayweather. “Right now some crazy numbers have been thrown my way, upwards of nine figures. Right now, I really don't know what we're going to do. You never know.”
Everyone is aware that Mayweather’s large haul came in May of last year when he faced Manny Pacquiao. The megafight made both protagonists a whole lot richer though the fight drew plenty of criticism.
Right now, it will be interesting if that nine-figure offer will entice him to take the ring once more. Also, it would be interesting who Mayweather would face. Though Pacquiao was someone he says he will no longer fight again, the fact is that the Filipino boxing icon is the only one that can rack in a big draw.
There are of course a lot of big names like Gennady Golovkin or Adrien Broner who could be on the other side. Whoever it may be, the fact remains that Mayweather will select the fighter who he best feels he can handle.
