If reports are to be believed then we might see Eriq La Salle joining the star cast of 20th Century Fox's "Wolverine 3," but details regarding what role Salle might play in the movie is not yet known, according to VarietyLa Salle, who has appeared in numerous television shows like Under the Dome and CSI: Cyber, is best known for his role as Dr. Peter Benton in the long-running NBC hospital drama ER.

While La Salle's supposed role in the new film remains a mystery, speculations are that the ER actor might play an ally to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. There are even chances that La Salle might be offered to play the role of a sage figure of wisdom and knowledge, who helps Logan on his final quest, according to Cinema Blend.

Eriq La Salle joins a "Wolverine 3" cast that already includes Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant and Elise Neal. Other than Jackman and Patrick Stewart's involvement as Professor Charles Xavier, little is known about the roles which other cast members will be playing in the movie.

The Old Man Logan story follows an aging Wolverine who is the last surviving X-Man in a dystopian world where he has vowed to never use his claws again.

Recently, the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, had revealed that they would want Wolverine to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and interact with The Avengers. In an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, the Russo brothers also expressed their desire to have Fox's Wolverine.

"First favorite character growing up was Spider-Man, second was Wolverine. One of my most prized possessions is 'Incredible Hulk' [Issue] 181. It was his first appearance," Joe said, reported Movie Pilot.

He then added, "It's in my collection. It's sitting in a safe. I won't disclose where it is."

Anthony also quickly chimed in saying, "I know where it is. And I would say Wolverine as well, for all of the exciting reasons that we all gravitate to."

Hugh Jackman has already announced that "Wolverine 3" will be his last movie as the clawed mutant. So, it remains to be seen which actor will be roped in to play the iconic role in future Wolverine movies.

"Wolverine 3" is set for release on March 3, 2017. The movie is scheduled to start shooting sometime this month. James Mangold is directing from David James Kelly's screenplay.
