‘The Conjuring 2’ Featurette Showcases Real-Life Story Of Family Who Inspired The Film
While Warner Bros' horror sequel "The Conjuring 2" is still weeks away from its official release, a new featurette called "Strange Happenings in Enfield" has started to give viewers goosebumps.
Directed by James Wan, "The Conjuring 2" adds another chapter in the true-life story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The new featurette gives a sneak peek into the real-life story of the Hodgson family whose paranormal experience inspired the film. The video shows interviews of the family members as well as real photos and recordings from the files of Lorraine and Ed Warren, the demonologists who investigated the case. The recordings were captured in August of 1977.
The video begins with an interview with Janet Hodgson who says "We were a very close knit family. We was good children. We had no history of the house, before the happenings," reported IBTimes.
"We got out into the neighborhood that there was something strange going on in our house and it became known as 'The Strange Happenings in Enfield,'" Margaret, one of Janet's sisters, said in "The Conjuring 2" featurette.
Janet claims she was used and abused by her demonic possessor. She confirms that there was levitation, demonic voices, and she even claims it was all quite life-threatening for her.
The video also features actual sound recordings captured by the Warrens during their investigation of Janet, who was only 11-years old at the time. In the voice clips, Janet sounds as if she is speaking with a male voice, much older than her real self and can be heard speaking another language, according to Movie Web.
"The Conjuring 2" has been scheduled for release on June 10 in the United States. The star cast include Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga playing Ed and Lorraine Warren, Frances O'Connor (The Missing), Madison Wolfe (Trumbo), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black), Simon Delaney (Roy), Franka Potente (The Bridge), Simon McBurney (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) and newcomers Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh.
