Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump End Feud: Republican Candidate Rejects Being 'Soft' On Enemies
After taking digs on each other for almost a year now, the republican candidate, Donald Trump, and the American journalist, Megyn Kelly, finally ended their word of wars in a recent interview. Trump and Kelly discussed on various topics, including the republican candidate's take on his political rivals and about his divorces from former wives Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.
According to the reports, the business magnate responded to critics about his campaign style. Donald said that he wants to give his best shot to win, without which everything would just fall around. He also made it clear that he doesn't believe in being easy and soft with his business rivals.
"I will say this: If I don't go all the way, and if I don't win, I will consider it to be a total and complete waste of time, energy, and money," said Trump, as reported by The Guardian. "If I were soft, if I were presidential, in a way it's a bad word because there's nothing wrong with being presidential, but if I had not fought back in the way I fought back, I don't think I would have been successful."
During the exclusive interview, the nominee for the Republican Party also said that even if he had been harsh in responding to people in some cases that were just because of how they had treated him in the past, reported Vogue. Trump also expressed his views on his role in the presidential election this year and told Kelly at the present moment he considers himself as some kind of a messenger. He also said that he wants to help and work for millions of people that have been disenfranchised from this country in the past.
Further, Donald also talked about his late brother, Freddy, who passed away from alcoholism in 1981 at the age of 42. He also went on to talk with Megyn about his ex-wives and admitted that he was not committed enough to his past relationships, reported Hollywood Reporter.
Earlier, there were reports that the Donald and the 45-year-old television personality had a heated argument, during a Republican debate last year. The disagreement started when Kelly demanded an answer from Trump about his treatment of women. The reports suggest that the 69-year-old then went on a rampage and talked ill about Megyn's characters in many of his interviews.
But, the recent interview saw a different turn of events, when Donald indirectly asked for an apology from Kelly for his behavior in the past. "I thought it was unfair and I don't really blame you because you're doing your thing," said Trump, as reported by LA Times. "But from my standpoint, I don't have to like it. In a certain way, you did me a favor. If I can get through those questions, I can get through. You've been called much worse. I have great respect for you. Today, you were able to call me for an interview. I would not have done that."
