Survival Capsule: Be Safe From Tsunamis, Earthquakes & Hurricanes

Natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and storm surges are unpreventable and people are left with very few places to find shelter in those difficult times to save their lives.

But now, aerospace engineers from Survival Capsule LLC have developed a giant spherical ball which they claim can withstand even the worst conditions during natural calamities.

Dubbed the Survival Capsule, the disaster-proof capsule is designed specifically to withstand the impact of a natural disaster, heat exposure, rapid deceleration, sharp object penetration and blunt object impact, according to Consumer Affairs.

These potentially life-saving compartments come in different sizes from two-person to a ten-person capacity. Smaller-sized capsules are intended for family homes and residences while larger capsules could benefit business and schools.

The Survival Capsule has two porthole windows, safety seating with four-point harness straps, internal lighting, storage space for up to five day's supplies per person, a GPS, air tanks, reinforced and durable walls and is completely watertight.

"It gives [people] an option of having a security system on their own property which is easily accessible day or night and really gives the family a safe security they wouldn't otherwise have," said Julian Sharpe, founder of The Survival Capsule, reported Daily Mail.

The life-saving capsule is designed to float and in the case of high water levels, a self-righting system with water bladders in the bottom prevents it from rolling upside down. The giant ball is made from a hardened aluminum shell and frame and its interior is also insulated to keep the occupants warm.

Sharpe first envisioned the concept of Survival Capsule after the devastation of the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami, which killed over 200,000 people. He said modern-day early warning systems can save anywhere up to 90 percent of a population, but the rest 10 per cent are most likely going to die.

For instance, in case of a tsunami which is exposing 2.5 million people, 10 percent becomes a quarter of a million, and that's definitely a huge number. Sharpe claims that Survival Capsule can prove to be a good option to reduce the death toll to just one or two per cent.

While the Survival Capsule has not yet been launched, interested people can pre-order the disaster-proof capsule on the company's website here.
